Our History

AccuKare was started in May of 2002 utilizing the home care knowledge from Karla, the IT knowledge of Grant, the enthusiasm of the 5 clients who sought her out and pushed Karla to do this, and the overall desire of everyone involved (family and friends too!) to do things differently in home care than anyone ever had prior.  Karla is a nurse and approached the service model from a nursing perspective, not a business perspective.  Over the years she has learned to  balance both of these.  AccuKare started in the basement of Grant and Karla’s house with furniture from an auction and surplus office supplies and papers.  Karla wrote/designed all the policies, trainings, forms, home kits etc.  involving help along the way.  Grant designed IT products that did things to decrease office handwork to facilitate client relations.   The business stayed in their home for 5 years, moved to a two room office for 6 years, and then moved to its current location.  It has stayed true to its mission through all of the changes within the Federal, State, County, Managed Care providers, and internal developments.  There are still a handful of original employees and clients other than Karla, and a tremendous number of 10+ year veterans. It has changed management persons and styles over the years to attempt to morph with the changes of industry.

AccuKare remains one of the most unique agencies in the field providing  services that are regulated by many laws and directives but ensures that the missions of assisting others to maximize their functionality and filling life with possibilities is the foremost objective.

Management Team

Karla Adams

President

Karla Adams is an accomplished registered nurse by education and experience, having learned the business side of home care along with the growth of AccuKare. As President, Karla holds the energy and vision of the company. She is an involved owner, always striving to bridge the gap between the regulations of all the governing bodies and facilitating an individualized experience for employees and clients.

Michelle Lewis

General Manager

Michelle Lewis is a veteran licensed social worker, having worked in nursing homes, managed care delivery, hospice and homecare. Michelle’s role is ensuring day-to-day operations uphold the mission of AccuKare while maintaining compliance with the regulations of the industry.

Robyn Lane

Finance Manager

Robyn Lane is an enlighted financial manager, who brings her audit, CMA, corporate financial management, and IT experiences and skill set to the intricate business end of AccuKare. Robyn has uniquely presented to AccuKare that the business side of a company can be approached with an enlightened and humanistic tone.
